A U.S. Postal Service truck spent the afternoon upside down in Prairie Creek after a driver lost control of the vehicle, swerving into another driver and then into the creek. No one was injured.
Around 12:30 p.m. this afternoon, a U.S. Postal Service truck traveling north on Summit Avenue hit a curb and lost control. The mail truck sideswiped a pickup truck traveling nearby, which was knocked over the median and into the southbound lanes. The postal truck swerved back to the right and tumbled into the creek.
Lewisville police Capt. Casey Carter said the postal truck took out 60 feet of fencing and was leaking fuel when workers arrived, necessitating a hazmat crew.
It’s been a rough week for drivers in Lewisville. Round Grove Road was shut down for an extended period of time Tuesday when construction workers hit a gas line, and I-35E was shut down Monday morning when an 18-wheeler driver fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into a margin between the main and express lanes just south of Justin Road.
