The neon open signs remained turned off as frowning customers walked away from the chained and padlocked glass doors of Mama’s Pizza in Lewisville. Next to a closed sign hanging from the door was a notice of temporary lockout for nonpayment of rent, dated Sept. 20.

Along with notifying the Mama’s Pizza staff that the locks have been changed due to delinquent rent, the notice said the renters can still retain and live out the lease for the premises.

Calls to surrounding Mama’s Pizzas did not render any definite answers. An employee at the Plano shop said he thinks it might be closed because it originally was closed for remodel but closed again after, but he was not certain. An employee at the Fort Worth location said he’s never heard of the Lewisville restaurant. Nobody picked up at Mama’s in North Richland Hills.

What is certain is that Google reports the spot as permanently closed. Mama’s Pizza on W. Round Grove Road was rated 4.1 stars from 70 reviews on Google. It served a pizza buffet and salad bar for lunch in addition to pizza, wings and sandwiches from the menu.
